Sidor came to light in Suwałki on April 25, 1947. After disclosure, he worked, among others, on the construction of a road bridge in Raczki and as the president of the agricultural cooperative "Jedność" in Raczki. He was under surveillance and persecuted by PUBP. He was hiding from August 1949. In October 1949 he made contact with the guerrillas of Jan Sadowski, nickname "Blady", "Komar" and Piotr Burdyn, nickname "Edward", "Kabel", "Mroźny", "Poręba", but he did not stay with them, but hid in the company of Jan Gizelbach, nickname "Wierszuł." On November 21, 1949, together with Gizelbach, they stayed at the farm of Jan Szczecina in the village of Lipowo in the commune of Koniecbór, and for the night moved to the adjacent abandoned barn of Józefa Jasionowska. As a result of a report by an unknown UB informant, nickname "Bolesław" from the village of Podwysokie, they were surrounded by the operational group of KBW-UB. According to the report, "Guzik" committed suicide, while "Wierszuł" gave up. Jan Sidor is buried in the cemetery in Suwałki.
